Exploring the Efficacy of Cognitive Control Training in Improving Emotional Regulation and Executive Functions in Individuals with Borderline Personality Traits and Self-Injury.

I am writing a research proposal. Studying the effect of cognitive control training (CCT) on executive functions (working memory, response inhibition, impulse), and emotional regulation (affect regulation) in individuals with borderline personality traits and self-injury. So let me explain my idea:Individuals with borderline personality traits and self-injury have poor emotional regulation, poor impulse control, and some research shows the their executive functions (working memory, response inhibition, impulse) are also effected negatively. The cognitive control training (CCT) explains that the individuals with borderline personality traits and self-injury show low activity in certain brain area (dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and other areas) that is responsible and/or effect for the executive functions. CCT explain that because these area in the brain are not very active, these individuals have issues in executive functions (working memory, response inhibition, impulse) and possibly emotion regulation. Furthermore, there affect regulation effect working memory, (from article 1 ->) inhibit irrelevant mood-congruent negative information from working memory has been linked to rumination, a perseverant negative emotional processing style typically found in depression and individuals with borderline personality traits and self-injury. The use of maladaptive emotion regulation strategies such as ruminative thinking, instead of more adaptive regulatory processes such as positive reappraisal, has been linked to poorer mood-regulation, and hence to prolonged negative affect and depressive symptomsSo, my idea is to test whether cognitive control training (CCT) would improve emotional regulation, better emotion control, lower rumination, working memory, impulse control in these individuals. Outline (each separate section):A. literature reviewB. Research questionsC. Significance of researchD. Research methodsE. Motivation (why am I pressuring this topic)o Interest in emotional regulationo Interest in personalityo CCT is new and might enhance or replace other kind of therapy. I have attached a document “Outline Proposal draft” that explains the full instruction. I have attached couple of article to use from, and to add to them (only use references 2016 and above) Write all the in-text references correctly. I have attached a document “Outline Proposal draft” that explains the full instruction.
