Afterword All the writings that you include in the Portfolio must be writings that you have written for our class over its six week term. The writings are produced from the prompts supplied, either the ones that I’ve posted or from the two books, poemcrazy and How to Write Short. 1. Cover page Include your name, the date, and our class code ENGLISH 1013: Introduction to Creative Writing. Make a title for your portfolio (don’t just call it Portfolio). Put an image or graphics on the page. Be as creative as you wish for the cover page. Consider its graphic presentation. The text does not have to be in 12-point font or standard font. 2.Contents List the titles of your writings in your portfolio, the word count for each, and the pages on which they are found. 3. Introduction: Write 250 words, no more, no less. Introduce your portfolio, your strengths and struggles, your writing process, your engagement with the prompts and the required reading, and any other information related to the selections that you have included. Briefly explain the image on the cover page (e.g. Is it your own photo or art? From Unsplash?) 4. Resubmit one Hummingbird writing that went through peer-editing and that you then re-wrote. 5. Non-fiction prose – a) 100 words; b) 200 words. 6. Character palette (1-2 pages) + drabble (100 words) with the character as protagonist (fiction) 7. Fiction prose. 200 words. 8.Prose Poem. 75-125 words. 9.Poem with line breaks. 9-16 lines 10. My choice prose. 100-250 words. A prose writing of your choice that you did not post as a Hummingbird writing. The writing must have been written during our class and must be from prompts that I provided or that are in the two books. Leave a space after your My Choice writing and in a short paragraph explain which prompt or exercise you used for the My Choice writing and why you chose it. 11. Afterword. Provide a reflexive definition of yourself as a writer. Form: prose or poetry. Revise and edit your writing for grammar, spelling, punctuation, diction, style, tone, and form.
