Analyzing the ASSIGNED COMPANY’S Corporate Balance Sheet
The Wall Street Journal overview contains 5 years’ worth of data, and it has a small 5-year trend graph for each category. Assets will automatically appear. Scroll down to Liabilities & Shareholders’ Equity and click the “plus” icon to reveal the rest of the balance sheet. NOTE: values are USD Millions. (You will see this note right under the word “Assets”)
You wrote about the Income Statement in SLP 1 and understand the basics.
Asset Analysis
Examine the 5-year trend in Total Current Assets and Total Assets. Explain if the dollar values go up, down, or are consistent.
Report on at least two balance sheet entries under assets that have changed over time or are negatives.
Using the module readings, identify possible reasons for the changes.

Liability Analysis
Examine the 5-year trend in Total Current Liabilities and Total Liabilities. Explain if the dollar values go up, down, or are consistent.

Balance Sheet Ratios
Click on “Financials” on the WSJ page. Complete the Table.
Based on what you learned in SLP 1, explain the significance of the ratios and how this relates to the health of the company. Supplement the analysis with research on the company (published in the last 6 months).
