What is the La Verne Experience Mission? The La Verne Experience (LVE) is the University of La Verne’s signature academic experience. LVE is designed to foster a holistic education and create a sense of belonging to build a community of learners. LVE focuses on integrated learning and theory-to-practice participation, as well as engagement in reflective thinking and analysis of critical social issues. LVE thus empowers students to create transformative change through a pedagogy of equity and social justice, intentional discourse, and community engagement, by working alongside diverse groups and individuals. What is Ethnical Reasoning? Ethical reasoning is a type of critical thinking that uses ethical principles and frameworks. It is a process of identifying ethical issues and weighing multiple perspectives to make informed decisions. Ethical reasoning is not about knowing right from wrong, but being able to think about and respond to a problem fairly, justly and responsibly. What is LVE 200? LVE 200 focuses on career and self-development, as well as ethical reasoning. It extends the curricular experience into the co-curricular. The course provides opportunities and resources for students to seek career information related to academic and career interest. Students are guided through individual and group exercises that assist in identifying needs, values, wants, interest, and abilities. The goal of LVE 200 is to help students develop a strong foundation for major/career decision planning through career inventories, research on careers, and personal reflection. Additionally, students consider how ethical reasoning can used to make strong and healthy career and personal choices.
