Description – Working as a group, members will research the key developmental milestones or benchmarks for social, emotional, physical (large/gross motor and small/fine motor), and cognitive development for children 4 to 10 years of age. The knowledge and understandings gained from this assignment will support a range of requirements throughout the program, the first of which is the Photo Study of a Child.
Guidelines – As a member of an assigned group, research the social development, emotional development, physical development (large/gross motor and small/fine motor), cognitive development of children 4 to 10 years of age in order to complete the requirements below. The definitions of the developmental domains which have been provided should be used to guide your research for each domain. Yardsticks: Child and Adolescent Development Ages 4-14 and other reliable resources should be used to support research efforts.
1. As a group generate four electronic timelines: 1) one which depicts the key milestones/benchmarks associated with physical development (large/gross motor and small/fine motor), 2) one which depicts the key milestones/benchmarks s associated with social development, 3) one which depicts the key milestones/benchmarks associated with emotional development, and 4) one which depicts the key milestones/benchmarks associated with cognitive development.
2. Present findings to the class following the guidelines below.
· Provide 10 minute report on the age range and developmental domain to be determined at the time of presentation
· Integrate technology in an appropriate manner within the report
· Incorporate visuals/demonstrations as needed to enhance the report
· Provide for active participation of all group members within the presentation of the report
